Map of Qin Dynasty

Qin Dynasty
Warring States

Before the Qin Dynasty (221 B.C- 207 B.C), China was separated into several different states, at the time called the Warring States period (475 B.C). The Qin Dynasty was different from the Warring States because all of the states were combined into one province. The capital was called Xianyang, located in the current day province of Shaanxi.  Also it included much more land to the west than the Warring States did. Although it included more land than the warring states, Qin dynasty China consisted of much less land than modern china. During the Qin dynasty, the boundaries were more to the eastern side. Conquering more land for China was important to Emperor Qin, but was made difficult because of China's desserts and mountains. With mongols invading from the north, it was hard for China to conquer more land to the north and west.
